Sponsored Projects Office (SPO), a unit within the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED), supports the campus's research and teaching mission through the submission of proposals, negotiation of awards, and financial management of sponsored projects. SPO is the delegated Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) unit on campus. Only AORs can submit proposals and accept/execute awards on behalf of The Regents. No other campus unit should submit proposals or accept awards on behalf of The Regents.
In providing the following quality services, our office assists faculty and staff members in meeting their research and teaching objectives:
- Preparation and review of proposals ensuring compliance with sponsor requirements and University of California policy
- Submission of proposals on behalf of the Regents of the University of California
- Negotiation, acceptance, and monitoring of research agreements;
- Management of award transfers to UC Merced
- Award setup in Cayuse
- Execution of subawards/subcontracts
- Reporting to external entities
- Interpret and provide guidance on sponsor regulations and terms and conditions
