The Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) has embarked on a Sponsored Projects (SP) Redesign Initiative focused on identifying and improving areas within our division. ORED is reviewing our internal processes and redesigning them in an effort implement these improvements. This initiative is in partnership with the other administrative and organizational changes the campus is undertaking to align administrative processes with current campus activity. These changes will position the unit to accommodate anticipated campus growth over the next several years. This initiative will have several positive impacts for how ORED manages UC Merced sponsored research awards.
The initiative seeks to:
· Reduce administrative burden for our faculty
· Increase time our faculty can dedicate to research
· Streamline contracts and grants processes and transactions
· Increase efficiency
· Reduce award processing time
· Enhance customer service to our faculty researchers
In support of this initiative, we are setting up an Advisory Council to guide this process. The council will include representation from deans, faculty and other campus stakeholders.
Campus leaders and ORED are committed to the process and the success of the SP unit. We strive to achieve a program that can serve the immediate needs of the university and its long-term goals for continuous improvement and growth.
We ask for your support and assistance as we navigate through the redesign between now and June 2020. We will continue to update the campus community by email communications and a website devoted to this initiative.
We encourage you to email email@example.com with any questions you might have.
