NCURA Peer Review Report at UC Merced

NCURA Peer Review Report on UC Merced's Research Infrastructure

A peer review team from the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) conducted an evaluation of UC Merced’s research infrastructure in April 2012 and delivered its final report in June 2012.

The peer review team evaluated two areas within research administration as described in the NCURA National StandardsInstitutional Infrastructure (consisting of organizational structure; communication, outreach and education; compliance and risk assessment; and electronic research administration) and Core Operations (consisting of proposal services; award acceptance and initiation; award management; and research ethics).

Faculty and staff members and administrators participated in the review and comments received were very helpful to the team. Many strengths of the research enterprise were noted and opportunities to strengthen research operations were provided. There are 87 recommendations included in this report. The office of the vice chancellor for Research and Economic Development will work with partners across the university to address these recommendations.
